Justin Mistikawy has been performing solo and in a variety of different acts across the continental US for the last 10 years, earning recognition as a virtuosic flatpicker and expressive singer-songwriter by his peers and audiences alike. With musical roots steeped heavily in blues, bluegrass, folk, country, rock, and jazz, Justin combines powerful lyricism with unique melodic lines and catchy chord progressions to create a unique listening experience. Justin started Box of Rocks in early 2024 with close friends from a local jam, providing an outlet for traditional bluegrass lovers in the mountain west. Following a year of gigging as a traditional four-piece bluegrass band and then as a duo with classically trained upright bassist, Carol Martinson, Box of Rocks has since reinvented itself as a grooving honky tonk band with Will Flagg on pedal steel guitar and Zach Hobart on percussion.

Box of Rocks is currently working on recording a debut album, Radium King Road, which will feature nine original songs, and one originally arranged cover. We hope for Radium King Road to be out and available to the public by summer 2026!

In the meantime, select Box of Rocks singles are available for streaming on Spotify, Apple, YouTube, and Bandcamp! Please give us a listen when you can!! And come see us perform, we're a hoot and holler live!!!
